The rodeo and parade are both extraordinary cultural events that help define and preserve our city's great Western heritage. While it's nerve-wracking to see event organizers tinker with a formula that has worked, concerns about party fatigue probably have merit.
Furthermore, it's a chance to pull new crowds to Tejon Street and other parts of downtown on a weeknight. Rather than bemoan this change, fans of the parade and rodeo should embrace it as a potential improvement. It's a reason to experience downtown Colorado Springs at night, to dine out, have a drink, and enjoy a parade without battling the heat and sun.
