Halter Marine Inc, a Gulfport-based shipbuilder, has laid the keel for a U.S. Army LSV, which helps land tanks and armored vehicles onto enemy shores. Halter has built six LSVs for the army. The vessels are 314-feet long, have a 60-foot beam and a depth of 19 feet. It will take about two years to complete the construction.
