Tulane University Law School received a $1 million gift from the family of the deceased New Orleans trial attorney Wendell H. Gauthier to establish the Wendell H. Gauthier Center for Applied Trial Advocacy. The center is expected to offer real-world, practice- oriented litigation instruction. The school also hopes to establish the Wendell Gauthier Chair in Complex Litigation and Advocacy. Gauthier represented victims of the 1982 Pan Am Flight 759 in Kenner and victims of the MGM Grand Hotel fire in Las Vegas. He also represented plaintiffs in landmark litigation against tobacco companies.
In other Tulane news, the Council on Education for Public Health re-accredited the university's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine for seven more years.
