Baton Rouge-based Lamar Advertising Co. acquired Eugene, Ore.- based Obie Media Corp. for $66 million. Lamar gave Obie shareholders about $43 million in Lamar shares and assumed $23 million in debt.

The merger, already approved by the board of directors of both companies, is subject to approval of Obie stockholders and certain closing conditions.
