West Jefferson Medical Center looks to fill job vacancies

New Orleans CityBusiness, Sep 17, 2005 by CityBusiness Staff Report

Staff members at West Jefferson Medical Center were asked to let administrators know by Friday whether they planned to return to their jobs after Hurricane Katrina, and now the hospital is seeking to fill the resulting vacancies.

Francine Miguel, director of human resources, said some of the affected staff chose to take leaves of absence while others said they are not coming back to the area. The available positions include case managers, social Workers, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, emergency medical technicians, phlebotomists and workers in billing and coding, medical records and patient registration.

West Jefferson has health professional positions available now, said Miguel. We are very proud that West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero is recognized for being one of New Orleans' Best Places to Work (by New Orleans CityBusiness).

More information on West Jefferson's openings can be found on its Web site, www.wjmc.org, where applicants can apply online.

Sodexho, the food and facilities management company that operates at West Jefferson, is also hiring cooks, dietary workers and housekeepers. More information on these openings is available at 504- 349-2199.

Miguel said West Jefferson Medical Center, officially known as Jefferson Parish Hospital Service District No. 1, is seeing progress in its recovery following the hurricane.

Today we are stronger for what we've been through together, she said. Our hospital and Physicians Center are open. Our inpatient, outpatient and surgical services are open, our Home Health and Hospice (departments) are open, and doctors' offices are open.
