New Orleans CityBusiness, Apr 3, 2006 by CityBusiness Staff Report

Young Leadership Council volunteers cleaned up a Central City neighborhood this past weekend and will continue its Neighborhood Renaissance Project in Central City from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 15 and 16.The mission of the Neighborhood Renaissance Project is to rebuild, revitalize and restore the New Orleans area, one neighborhood at a time, through community service, enrichment and beautification activities, YLC officials said. Our goal is to work with Central City community groups to identify the needs of the neighborhood and create long-term sustainable programs that engage our membership and Central City residents in the revitalization of this historically important area of New Orleans, said YLC President Lee Reid.

We are extremely excited to bring the energy and enthusiasm of our young professionals to this important renaissance project.YLC is a 20-year-old nonprofit with 1,000 members. It chose Central City as its first neighborhood because the YLC office is located in the neighborhood and the nonprofit had made a previous commitment to revitalize Central City. For more information on the nonprofit or to register for the clean-up, visit www.youngleadershipcouncil.org.
