New Orleans CityBusiness nets 10 Press Club awards

New Orleans CityBusiness took home a ceremony-best 10 awards at the 48th annual Press Club awards June 24 at the Astor Crowne Plaza.

CityBusiness swept the business category where Richard A. Webster won first and second place with stories Vietnamese stores put in crosshairs of crime spree and Eviction row, respectively. Deon Roberts won third place with Contractors feel squeeze from federal budget cuts.

Roberts also won first place for Best Series for his coverage of Base Realignment and Closure.

Webster reported the Best Investigative Story for City blamed for botching New Orleans evacuation plan. Webster took second for environmental reporting with the story Burning issue about an open chemical pit in eastern New Orleans and took third place in General News for First wave of evictions hits New Orleans.

April Capochino finished third in the investigative category with Blight fight.

CityBusiness Associate Editor Tommy Santora took second place for sports features for his New Orleans CityLife story on horse racing headlined And they're off.

Photographer Ben Bullins won the Best Single Feature Photo category for the CityBusiness North Shore Report shot headlined Slidell's savior.
