External Tank-123 departed via ocean-going barge today from the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility en route to Kennedy Space Center.

Lockheed Martin Space Systems - Michoud Operations delivered ET- 123 to NASA Wednesday and rolled the tank to the enclosed barge.

The tank will fly on the STS-116 mission in December. The mission will deliver a third truss segment, a Spacehab module and other key components during the Space Shuttle's 20th flight to the International Space Station.

The 850-mile trip from New Orleans across the Gulf of Mexico and up the Atlantic Ocean side of Florida to Kennedy Space Center takes about five days.
