Metairie-based OCA Inc. changes name after rocky year
New Orleans CityBusiness, May 16, 2007
OCA Inc. is no more. Say Hello to OrthoSynetics.
The Metairie-based dental practice management firm announced the name change Tuesday as a way to herald a new shift in corporate vision.
"Our new identity reflects our new and fervent commitment to customer service," said Chris Roussos, who recently took over as CEO of OrthoSynetics. "As we emerge from what has been a challenging year, we are changing the culture of this company. We are listening to our customers and focusing on improving communication, our performance and the company's infrastructure."
Over the past several years OCA has been mired in turmoil. The company fired former CEO Bart Palmisano Sr. and his son, Bart Palmisano Jr. after OCA failed to file financial statements, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and was delisted by the New York Stock Exchange.
All of that is in the past, Roussos said.
"The bottom line is that we will be using the name change as a catalyst to make real changes within the company. With our new name we will have a new culture that is fanatically focused on serving the needs of our doctors and practices so they can thirve and grow."
