Shuttered since Hurricane Katrina, Oakwood Center to reopen Oct. 19

Oakwood Center, mostly shuttered since Hurricane Katrina hit nearly two years ago, will reopen Oct. 19, its owner announced today.
Dillard's and Sears have already reopen.
JCPenny is also slated to reopen in the 947,000-square-foot, 68- acre site.
"Reopening Oakwood Center is an important milestone in the post- Katrina rebirth of New Orleans and surrounding communities. We are proud to be a leader in the resurrection of such a great city," said John Bucksbaum, CEO of General Growth Properties.
Retailers include American Eagle Outfitters, Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, Regis Salons, Chick-fil-A, Bank of Louisiana, Claire's, Sprint and Wet Seal, among others.
