Canoe trip to highlight Bayou Bienvenue preservation

The Holy Cross Neighborhood Association's Lower Ninth Ward Center for Sustainable Engagement & Development and the New Orleans Group of the Sierra Club have organized a educational canoeing trip up Bayou Bienvenue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The canoes will be launched at Bait Inc.'s dock on the east side of Paris Road into Bayou Bienvenue.
The purpose of the trip is to highlight the need to restore the Bayou Bienvenue Cypress Forest to reduce storm surge in St. Bernard and Orleans parishes.-
