Shell Oil Co. and Motiva Enterprises today said they are giving $1 million to the American Red Cross to assist in the organization's efforts to help the Gulf Coast recover from hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
"The Red Cross relies on the generous support of companies like Shell and Motiva to meet the needs of those affected by this year's storms," said Red Cross President Gail McGovern. "This has been an active year of disasters, which has depleted the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. We are grateful for this gift, which will help provide disaster relief to residents throughout Texas and Louisiana."
"Shell and Motiva are committed to supporting the communities where our employees live and work, and we understand firsthand the urgent need for assistance in this region," Shell President Marvin Odum said.
