Public to comment on Louisiana State University medical center

The public will have a chance to weigh in on designs for the Louisiana State University Academic Medical Center proposed for downtown New Orleans.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Louisiana Office of Facility Planning and Control will host the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Episcopal Church, 3700 Canal St.
FEMA funding will be used to construct the medical center.
Tulane/Gravier is the selected site. Three design alternatives will be presented at the meeting.
The meeting will give the public a chance to provide comment on construction and operation of the facility. FEMA and the state will also accept comments on the environmental impact of the facility's design and construction.
After the meeting, public comments will be accepted until 4 p.m. May 13. Comments can be provided at the project's Web site, www.LSUAMC.com, or by mailing Cynthia Illick, FEMA EHP, 1250 Poydras St., 18th Floor Box 43, New Orleans, LA 70113.
Conceptual design schemes and layouts for the proposed center will soon be available at www.LSUAMC.com.
