SUPPORT. It's a word I'm sure you have all heard of, but I'm not sure it's a word you all know the meaning of.
Being a big fan of the men's basketball program at Marquette University, I have enjoyed attending their games and supporting the team.
On Thursday, Feb. 9, I entered the Bradley Center, sat down and watched the players warm up. Little did I know this would be the game where I would lose respect for my fellow Golden Eagles supporters.
The Marquette Golden Eagles and the St. Louis Billikens began play at 7:30 p.m. before a crowd of more than 13,000. As the game progressed, comments on the players' abilities began to fly. Usually, the home team fans comment on the other team's ability. This was not the case. Many of the "fans" around me began to make rude remarks about the Marquette players and coaches.

I was shocked. Is this showing support for your team?
When over half of the supposed Golden Eagles "supporters" began to walk out of the Bradley Center with over two minutes left and the Billikens up by only five points, my respect for the fans escaped me.
As for myself, I'm a die-hard Marquette fan and even if the team goes 0-20 next season and the Bradley Center has only three seats filled, I'll still be there. And you'll be able to tell which of the three is me. I'll be the one jumping up and down and cheering the Golden Eagles on.
And, hey, at least I'll have a front row seat!
