But neither Von, a transplant from Washington, D.C., nor Ullrich, a native who spent six years in New York City before returning, views Milwaukee through entirely critical eyes.
People here are straightforward and honest, Von said, and friendships, once made, run deep. The city suffers from complacency, Ullrich said, but at the same time has a comfortable feel.
