Allstate Corp. receives state tax credits in Wisconsin

Daily Reporter (Milwaukee), Apr 11, 2007 by Joe Grundle

Allstate Corp. will receive $750,000 in state tax credits to establish an express claims office in the village of Cross Plains, Gov. Jim Doyle announced Wednesday.

The office will replace a call center that closed two years ago, a development that state officials say hit Cross Plains hard.

Allstate will use the Enterprise Development Zone tax credits from the Department of Commerce to retrofit the 35,500-square-foot building interior with new furniture and furnishings. The building will be equipped with state-of-the-art computer equipment, voice and data wiring, telephone system and technical training room.

The building will include cafeteria space as well as meeting and conference rooms.

"Today is a great day for the community for Cross Plains," Village President Mike Schutz said in a statement. "Cross Plains is not only famous for friendliness, but also is home to some of the hardest and most dedicated workers. Thus, we are proud that a great company such as Allstate would choose Cross Plains to establish a call center."

Allstate is a personal property and casualty insurer based in Northbrook, Ill., that also specializes in life insurance, retirement and financial products. It uses about 14,800 exclusive agents and financial representatives in the United States and Canada.

"Wisconsin has always been home to the some of the greatest workers, the greatest universities and the greatest companies in the world," Doyle said.
