Corporate Express moves into new building in Oak Creek

Daily Reporter (Milwaukee), Jul 17, 2007 by Sean Ryan

National office supplier Corporate Express has moved into a new 280,000-square-foot distribution facility in Oak Creek on Opus North Corp.'s Oakwood Crossings Business Center.

It is the second facility built in the business center. Corporate Express has a 10-year lease with Opus for the building. The building was designed for a potential future addition of about 52,000 square feet. The building has 240,000 square feet of warehouse space plus 25,209 square feet of office space and 238 parking spaces.

Wetzler Brothers is leasing 12,000 square feet in Oakwood Crossings' first building, which has 127,000 square feet of industrial space available for lease. Opus Senior Director of Real Estate Jay Craig said the 92-acre business park has another 50 acres of undeveloped property that could accommodate around 675,000 square feet of additional building space.

The developer has paid to add traffic lights to intersections in the area and widen some of the nearby roads to four lanes to better accommodate increasing traffic. It's also planning to extend Opus Drive, which runs through Oakwood Crossings, so it crosses the entire site. Those improvements, along with Corporate Express' new building, should add some momentum to the park's development, Craig said.

"I am extremely happy that Opus has brought these high-quality buildings to Oak Creek that are attracting big business to the area," Mayor Richard Bolendar said in a printed statement. "Opus is providing greatly needed road improvements in addition to the buildings, both of which signify Opus' commitment to contribute a lasting investment to the community."

Opus, which has 28 offices nationwide, is based in Rosemont, Ill., and has an office in Milwaukee.
