MAGAZINE ADVERTISING COSTS: Annual magazine inflation rate to June 2004: 6.01%.The overall fall in readership levels reported in the latest Nielsen Media Research survey was the main contributor to an annual inflation rate of 6%. Only three of the publications that make up the index were reported to have readership increases.
Advertising rate increases were generally small, averaging 1.5%. The Clemenger BBDO media inflation index for magazines is based on the annual change in the cost per reader for advertising. Rates are sourced from publications. Readership figures are supplied by Nielsen Media Research. As a basket-of-goods measure, it may not reflect the specific media buying of all advertisers.
