LETTERS; Pitch puzzle

AdMedia,  Mar 17, 2005  by Andy Hollis

Dear Ed:I read with interest ... Actually, that's bollocks - I read with bored acceptance about another marketing director who seems to be confused about what being a 'director' actually entails.A recent Fastline story about the Otago University pitch left me wondering what Phil McKenzie is getting paid for.

By his own admission he's had five years of successful brand building but it's now time to put the account up for pitch to six agencies to find out what should be happening next.Phil, it's good business practice to direct your agency with regards to strategy, goals and opportunities. If you have done this and the incumbent has failed to deliver, I apologise (and wonder why they are still on the pitch list). If on the other other hand you haven't done the above, might I suggest that you direct your own talents to talking to the agencies that you already have first?Andy HollisCreative DirectorRepublik Communicationsandy@republik.co.nz
