Malaysian Business, Mar 1, 2008 by Compiled by Thavamani S Retnam
DELL has opened its first retail outlet in Malaysia. The outlet is a result of a partnership with TecAsia Sdn Bhd, the retail arm of Mesdaq- listed FTEC Resources Bhd.
Officiating the launch was Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. Also present were Pang Yee Beng, General Manager of Dell Malaysia; B K Tang, Managing Director of FTEC Resources; and Datuk Danny Ooi, founder of the Malaysia Book of Records.
Located on the fourth floor of Low Yat Plaza, the outlet boasts a wide range of Dell products on display, including the award-winning XPS M1330 and XPS M1530 notebooks, the Inspiron line of notebooks and desktops, and 20-inch and 22-inch wide LCD monitors. At the outlet, customers are able to browse, touch and feel the products and make an informed purchase with the help of TecAsia staff.
The partnership with TecAsia is Dell's latest retail distribution agreement aimed at reaching more customers worldwide. The company recently announced relationships with Courts in Singapore and GOME in China.
