Panasonic Collaborates with Microsoft to Deliver SD Memory Card-

JCNN News Summaries - Japan Corporate News Network, Jan 7, 2005 by Dale Hug

Matsushita Electric Industrial (Panasonic) have announced that the company is working with Microsoft to enable interoperability between SD Memory card-based music players from Panasonic and Windows Media.

Once collaborative work is completed in the second half of 2005, consumers will be able to download music in Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM) format from online music stores and use Windows Media Player 10 to transfer the music highly securely onto an SD Memory Card. Consumers will be able to playback that music with Panasonic's SD Memory Card-enabled portable audio-visual products.

Panasonic plans to introduce SD Card-based audio player products supporting Windows Media DRM this summer and additional players later in the year.
