Fujinon, Chiba University Co-develop New Endoscopic Diagnosis Method

Tokyo, May 30, 2005 - (JCNN) - Fujinon, an optics and lens manufacturing arm of the Fuji Photo Film group, announced on May 27 that it has jointly developed FUJI Intelligent Chromo Endoscopy (FICE), a method for facilitating endoscopic diagnosis, in collaboration with Chiba University.
FICE uses a special algorithm developed by the Research Center for Frontier Medical Engineering of Chiba University to enable viewers to select the wavelength of light and switch from an endoscopic image to a simulated image of the selected wavelength in real-time.
The new method is expected to help increase the accuracy of imaging diagnosis, paving the way for an early detection of diseases.
Fujinon plans to deploy the new method in the electronic endoscope models it will newly release.
