Denso to Build Additional Silicon Wafer Production Facility at Kota

Tokyo, June 9, 2005 - (JCN) - Denso (TSE: 6902) announced on June 8 that it will add another facility to produce silicon wafers to its Kota Plant in Aichi Prefecture. The company will begin construction in June. The new facility will be completed in February 2006, and will go into operation in June 2006.
Denso will invest approximately 17 billion yen ($160 mil) in the new facility between fiscal 2005 and 2006, and will make additional investments if required as demand picks up.
The new facility will have 26,000m2 of floor space, of which clean rooms will occupy 4,000m2. It will mainly produce in-vehicle electronic control unit (ECU) wafers. The facility will have a monthly eight-inch wafer output capacity of 10,000 units, which will boost the plant's production capacity to 40,000 units in terms of six- inch wafers by fiscal 2010.
