Tokyo, Aug 8, 2005 - (JCN) - Sysmex announced on August 8 that it has decided to strengthen its operations in the US. Specifically, the company will construct a new plant in Illinois, where its US subsidiary Sysmex America is headquartered.

Sysmex will invest $12 million to build the plant on a site adjacent to the US subsidiary. The plant will have a floor space of 5,000m2 and will be operated by its US reagent production subsidiary Systmex Reagents America.

The new plant, which is scheduled to become operational in April 2007, will manufacture reagent products for the US market. It will have an annual output capacity of 700,000 cases.

In line with the move, Sysmex plans to close down its current manufacturing plant in California in June 2008. Through the move, the company aims to consolidate its US operations to bolster its reagent supply capability in the US.
