Bank of Kyoto Adopts Hitachi's Finger Vein Authentication System for

Tokyo, Nov 9, 2005 - (JCN) - Hitachi announced on November 8 that the Bank of Kyoto has adopted its finger vein authentication system and will begin offering a biometrics service to customers on November 21. The bank issues a cash card embedded with a chip and installs automated teller machines (ATMs) with a finger vein authentication capability at its three branches.

The bank plans to deploy ATMs with the authentication capability in all of its branches by March 2006. The service covers ordinary and savings accounts.

Hitachi and Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions jointly provide the bank with comprehensive support from issuing smartcards to ATM operations.
