Pfizer Japan Obtains Approvalfor Genotropin Treatment for Adult

Tokyo, Aug 4, 2006 - (JCN) - Pfizer Japan Inc. has received the approval of Genotropin for Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency patients (aGHD). Genotropin is considered the top drug in this market and has been certified in 66 countries worldwide.
The drug has proved effective for Turner Syndromes and for children with hormone growth deficiencies. The drug is also used in adults to treat growth failure and to treat weight loss caused by acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
Some side effects included edema (21.6%), arthritic pain (10.8%) and muscle weakness (10.8%) according to the Phase III Clinical Trial in Japan.
