Canon Uses IC Card and Handset to Collect Medical Data - Video Report

Tokyo, July 31, 2007 - (JCN) - Canon has developed a new data collection solution that uses an IC card and the PRea handset.

Problems involved in medical check-ups in the past included input errors, information leaks, privacy concerns, OCR recognition precision problems and backlogs from data checking and adjustments.

The solution makes it possible to reduce the massive amount of time required to input information and fix mistakes.

Use of the PRea handset makes it unnecessary to use a computer or network to manage the data thus making it an ideal portable check-up kit.

It protects the user's privacy by using the IC card which works in conjunction with various medical check-up systems and a wide array of medical equipment inspection devices.
