TANNING salon owner James Hadley was facing jail last night after a schoolgirl was severely burnt on one of his sunbeds.

Kirsty McRae, 14, put pounds 1 into the coin-operated unit at the salon - one of seven owned by 25-year-old Hadley.

But the unsupervised youngster felt she was not getting brown enough after four minutes - so paid pounds 3 for another quarter of an hour. Four hours later she was rushed to hospital with 70% burns. She was put on a drip and given oxygen while doctors administered painkillers. It is still not known what the long-term damage will be. Hadley, of Neath, South Wales, admitted five breaches of health and safety laws at his walkin Lextan salon in Barry.

He was bailed pending reports but Barry magistrates told him he was at risk of being jailed.

Kirsty's mum Jill, 49, said: "I don't want any child to go through what my daughter went through.

"Justice must be done. If that means jail I'd welcome it."
