ARSONISTS who torched a Teesside tanning salon have caused pounds 30,000 of damage.

As reported in last night's Evening Gazette, The Sun Centre on Orchard Way, Ormesby Bank, was attacked twice by fire starters at 11pm on Saturday night and about 2am on Sunday morning.

Three fire appliances attended the scene, thought to have been started with dangerous explosions, at the family-run business.

Kevin Conway, 24, is the manager of the Sun Centre, owned by his dad.

He said: "After the first explosion, the fire didn't take hold and they came back and did another one. We've got it on CCTV which is now in the hands of the police.

"It's disgusting. Someone somewhere must know something."

Acting Detective Sergeant Chris Marchant of Redcar CID said: "We know the area was busy with people out and about at nearby pubs and clubs.

"I'm urging anyone who saw anybody hanging around the salon from 10pm through to the early hours of Sunday to get in touch.

"Witnesses, or people with information, can contact myself or my colleague DC Dave Coverdale at Redcar CID on 01642 302626 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
